Improv Comedy
- Yours truly doing the honors of opening a Friday night show at L.A. Connection.
The improv game in this video is called 4 Corners. Four actors rotate to the 4 corners of the stage when the emcee cues it. With each rotation is the playing out of a completely different scene.
In one corner of this game I play a medieval mother trying to kill her son with a dagger. In another I play a sister trying to destroy her brother's pride and joy - his Star Wars cup collection.
- In this game of HATS, each actor rotates in playing 2 characters in one scenario: An alien has just landed onto a farmer's property and oh so desperately needs to get back home. As the scene plays out we have some interesting happenings involving cows and probes.
- The game 3 or 4 Couple Spotlight Dance involves the rotation of 3 couples into the stage spotlight. The premise is: What are couples really talking about when they're dancing away on the dance floor? In this game my partner and I play a new romantic couple talking about the upcoming visit to my mom's place. The catch is - my mom doesn't like the fact that my new boyfriend is white. This scenario was prompted from the audience and it's all good fun, folks.
- You'll just have to watch this one.
- What do you get when you combine household objects, castmates killing each other off and Arnold Schwarzenegger-like action movie one-liners? You get the game called Arnold.
- The game Storyteller Quirks involves performers rotating in a circle and assuming the role of "storyteller" while performing various physical and verbal quirks as the story is relayed. Each quirk compounds on the one prior. I was second to last to go so by the time it was my turn in the hot seat, I had quite a bit of quirking to do while keeping the story going.
- Incorporating some Latin flair into my closing bow.
